This paper firstly gives a brief review about the history of amorphous semiconductor and the rapid progress in hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) film in recent years. Following that
the possibility and advantage of a-Si:H film to be applied to the target of TV camera tube are shown.It has been demonstrated that the TV camera tube using the a-Si:H film target have prospective performances
such as high resolution (more than 800 TV Lines)
high sensitivity (100nA/lx
700μA/lm). favorable spectral response for colour TV. At last
the unsolved problem is mentioned and the practical possibility for the use of the a-Si:H camera tube is discussed.
