Aerostatic axial systems with super high rotary accuacy are the main parts of optical disc grooving machines. Research process of an aerostatic bearing is discussed in detail in this article. The design and calculation prove reasonable and correct by comparison between experimental and theorical values. Processing and assembly technology are successful. After adjustment
rotary accuracy of main shaft is less than 0.0147μm which can meet the operating requirement of less than 0.05μm. This has come up to advanced world standards of 1980s.
