Analysis of the Elastohydrodynamic Behaviours of Point Contact by the Multigrid Method
The point contact problem is mainly concerned with study the mechanical properties of motional spherical components subjected to load. Generally
it is represented by a ball and a plane. The Reynolds equation is transformed into discrete equations using multigrid method which is solved by the iteration techniques
and surface distortion is obtained by a multi integration method. The film thickness
elastic deformation and pressure profiles are investigated with reference to parameters of geometry
speed
load
Poisson's ratio and viscosity of fluid. The results show that the basic characteristic of point contact is easily revealed employing the technique. Meanwhile
the numerical scheme proved to be very effective for such contact problems.
