The paper described the principle of holographic scanning disk. The constructions of the holographic scanning disk with fixed spatial frequency distribution and variable spatial frequency distribution were given. The condition of straight-line scanning generated by holographic scanning disk was analysed based on the method of hologram phase and phase transfer function. It derived the relation between parameters of recording sublet hologram of holographic scanning disk. The result of straight-line scanning of holographic scanning disk were presented based on the difference between the constructed and reconstructed wavelengths and the method of aberration correction. The effect of disk wobble and decentre on the scanning characteristic of holographic scanning disk was analyzed. Finally
the paper introduced the design of holographic scanning disk with variable spatial frequency distribution.
