Introduction for Optics and Precision Engineering
The Optics and Precision Engineering
is published by the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine
Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Optics and Precision Engineering
is a primary journal. The journal is committed to enhancing and disseminating
original researches in the field of optics and optics-related precision
engineering as well as to facilitating its practical applications. Content is
published online monthly.
Where to Submit Your
Manuscript
The journal
has an online manuscript submission system, located at http://www.eope.net. Author instructions are
available through a link after you successfully log in. Please submit your
paper online! Our website is www.eope.net. Please register first and fill out
your detailed contact information including ID number, telphone number, office phone
number, email, corresponding address, diploma, title and your research field.
Especially for your ID number, you must fill it out because we need it to
process your remuneration once your paper is accepted. After registering and
submitting information, you may check on the status of your manuscript
throughout the peer review process.
Submission Mode
Your manuscript should include title, byline, abstract, main text,
appendices, references, tables and figures with captions.
Unless otherwise stated, submission of a manuscript will be
understood to mean that the paper has not
been copyrighted, classified, published, nor is being
considered for publication elsewhere.
A duly signed transfer of copyright agreement form is required for
publication in this journal. Upload a signed Optics
and Precision Engineering Transfer
of Copyright Agreement Form when submitting your original or
revised manuscript to the journal's online submission site: http://www.eope.net. We welcome suggestions of
possible reviewers. To help protect the reviewer's anonymity, we ask for at
least four names, with full information on postal and e-mail addresses and
telephone numbers. The referee selected by the Editor may, of course, not
necessarily be taken from this list.
The Editor prefers to correspond directly with the author, rather
than through the reports division or through executives of the author's
laboratory. Manuscripts sent to authors for revision should be returned to the
Editor within two months. A manuscript returned later than this will generally
be regarded as a new
submission and will receive a new receipt date.

Statement of Ethics and Responsibilities
This journal is published as part of the charter of its publisher,
the Optics and Precision
Engineering, to advance and diffuse knowledge of the science of
physics and its applications for human advancement. It is essential that all
who are involved in producing the journal conduct themselves as authors,
reviewers, editors, and publishers in accord with the highest level of professional
ethics and standards. By submitting a manuscript to this journal, each author
implicitly confirms that it meets the highest ethical standards.
The Optics and
Precision Engineering is not able to provide free English-language
editing services to the authors. It is the author’s responsibility to produce a
fluent, grammatically error-free manuscript and to edit their manuscript
according to our journal’s general format and style. Link to the journal’s General Editorial Policies
here.
Acceptable manuscript file types include Word only. PDF is
acceptable for the review process only and a source Word is required for
production.
The Manuscript,
including the abstract, references, and captions, should be set up for 21.6 x
28 cm (8-1/2 x 11 inches) A4 pages with ample margins. It should be carefully
proofread by the author. The manuscript must be in good scientific English;
this is the author's responsibility.
The title
page should contain the title of the article, the names and
affiliations of the authors, and a short abstract. The manuscript should be
arranged in the following order: title, author, affiliation, abstract, text,
acknowledgments, appendices, and references. Papers should not be lengthened by
unnecessarily long descriptions and repetitions, but neither should authors use
a telegraphic style detrimental to the clarity and understanding of the paper.
Title
The title should
be as concise as possible but informative enough to facilitate information
retrieval. Acronyms are not allowed in the title. They should be used sparingly
elsewhere.
Abstract
The abstract should be limited to no more than 300 words and should be self-contained (containing no footnotes or references). It should be adequate as an index (giving all subjects, major and minor, about which new information is given), and as a summary (giving the conclusions and all results of general interest in the article). The abstract should be written as one paragraph and should not contain displayed mathematical equations or tabular material.
Author
Authors' names should
preferably be written in a standard form for all publications to facilitate
indexing and avoid ambiguities. Author names should be centered in 10-pt. bold
font and appear as used for conventional publication, with first and middle
names or initials followed by surname.
Authors with Chinese, Japanese, or Korean names may choose to have
their names published in their own language alongside the English versions of
their names in the author list of their publications. For Chinese, authors may
use either Simplified or Traditional characters. Chinese, Japanese, or Korean
characters must be included within the author list of the manuscript when
submitting or resubmitting. The manuscript must be prepared using Microsoft Word only.
Author affiliation
All author and affiliation
should be styled in the following below. If all authors share one affiliation,
superscript numbers are not needed. All authors must be grouped using
superscripts for each affiliation. Abbreviations may not be used. For example:
Yuhong Bai1, John Love2
1. Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences 16, Dong Nanhu Rd, Changchun, Jilin, 130033, China;
2. Physics Education Centre, Bldg 38A, Australian National University, Canberra, ACT 0200, Australia
Key words
Three to five key words should
be list at the end of the abstract divided by semicolons. For example:
Key
words: fibre lasers; evanescent waves; silver films; 3D FDTD
Main text
The first line of the first paragraph of every section should be
start flush left. All main text should be alignment double justified. Section
headings may be numbered consistently throughout the paper in Arabic numbers
and typed in 14-pt. bold font. Numbering of section headings and subsection
headings is encouraged and must be used consistently throughout the paper.
Equations
Equations
should be centered, unless they are so long that less than 1 cm will be
left between the end of the equation and the equation number, in which case
they may run on to the next line. Equation numbers may appear at the right-hand
margin, and the number should appear on the next line when the equation is
long. For very long equations, the right side of the equation should be broken
into approximately equal parts and aligned to the right of the equal sign. The
equation number should appear only at the right hand margin of the last line of
the equation:
E=mc2 ,
(1)
All
equations should be numbered in the order in which they appear and can be
referenced from within the main text as Eq. (1). The MS Equation Editor should
be used in the text.
Figures
Figures should be included
directly in the document. The figures should be in digital form and placed
appropriately in the electronic document. All illustrations should be numbered
consecutively with Arabic numbers. The size of a figure should be adequate to
clearly show the information conveyed by the figure; a 6cm x 6cm size is
recommended. The figures should be centered with the figure captions centered
beneath the figure in 10-pt. font. The positions of figures should be close to
where they are first mentioned in the main text.
Fig. 1 Sample figure[1]
Figure captions
Ensure that each illustration has a caption. A caption should
comprise a brief title (not
on the figure itself) and a description of the illustration.
Keep text in the illustrations themselves to a minimum but explain all symbols
and abbreviations used.
Tables
Tables should be centered and numbered consecutively. Detailed explanations or table footnotes should be typed directly beneath the table. Tables should be inserted as closely as possible to where they are mentioned in the main text.
Notation
Notation
must be legible, clear, compact and consistent with standard usage. All unusual
symbols must be identified the first time they appear, and at all subsequent
times where confusion might arise. Superscripts are normally set directly over
subscripts; authors should note where readability or the meaning requires a
special order.
Acknowledgements
The Acknowledgements section
should be ahead of the References and begin with the title
“Acknowledgements” in 12-pt. that is not numbered as a section of the paper.
Please identify all proper funding sources, organizations and individuals in
this section.
Author biographies
Author
biographies should be included at the end of the paper.
The title of this section is in 12-pt. bold font. Please supply the information
of all authors, which includes name, educational background, research interests
and E-mail addresses.
References
References should appear before the section
of author biographies that are at the end of the paper. This section does not
follow the numbering scheme of the paper. The Optics and Precision Engineering uses numerical
notation in brackets for bibliographic citations. At the point of citation
within the main text, designate the reference by typing the number in after the
last corresponding word [1]. Reference numbers should precede a comma or
period [2]. Two references [3,4], should be included together, separated by a
comma, while three or more consecutive references should be indicated by the
bounding numbers and a dash [1-5]. The Optics
and Precision Engineering adopts the following citation style:
Journal paper
For journal articles, authors are listed first, followed by the
full title of the article. The symbol [J] indicates that the paper is from a
journal followed by the journal’s title abbreviation, publication year, volume
number and inclusive page numbers, e.g.:
