Microchannel plate (MCP) may be used as an imaging detector at the focal plane of a X-ray telescope which is uaually responded to irradiation of the celestial body in soft X-ray region. The imging performance and other related performances of the MCP in soft X-ray region has been measured experimentally. The resolution of MCP-screen proximity focus system has been measured at 4. 47nm and compared with the calculating result. A new method for measurement of the. electron gain of the MCP which uses the soft X-ray photoemission as a primary electron source has been proposed. The advantages of this new method arethe measurement can be repeated many times with one photocathode
the results accurate and well repeatable
the measurement process is convenient. The quantum efficiency of the MCP as a function of the incident angle at two wavelengths has been measured.
