CAD new technology-parametric design is stated in this paper.Starting with advanced CAD softwares soled in the world

several basic methods for parametric modeling and some new technologies such as feature-based modeling

constraint-based modeling

variational geometry and inference sketching are described.This paper introduces optical instument parametric design system(OIPS)

including its architecture

functions and features. The procedureof designing a part is illustrated for stating parametric design benefit.
