The application of precise welding structure in the gimbals of large-size OE pointing andtracking instrument is described in this paper. Compared with the traditional castiroll structure
the total weight of the instrument is decreased by 12%-14%. Meanwhile
the high mechanical mode and the axil precision less than 1"(arc second)of the gimbals are achieved. Theintermediate-body of the horizolltal shaft

the practicability of weldingstructwre applying in large-size precise components of the gimbals
the desigll method andthe approach that decrease the welding distortion
clear up the welding stress to insure the dimension stability is described in detail. The stiffness of the intermediate-body of the horizontal shaft in static and dynamic state is analysised and computered.
